The Art of the Pivot: Blending Copywriting with Coaching
Leaving a stable job for the unknown was terrifying, but led me to my dream career. Let me share why it was worth every anxious moment.
Ever found yourself wondering if there’s more to life than the regular 9-5 grind? That was me during the pandemic. Stuck at home, I started questioning everything, especially my job.
That’s when I found copywriting...on accident, while scrolling on TikTok, of all places! And guess what?
I’d been doing it for years as an admin assistant and investor relations manager without even knowing it. That discovery was the push I needed to start DUNN Copywriting.
Starting DUNN Copywriting was my very first step towards freedom. It was my side hustle for about 1 ½ years before I decided to take the leap and call it quits.
It took much studying with Comprehensive Copywriting Academy, then Copy Posse, now Reignmaker’s Mastermind, and countless other courses about marketing, psychology and emails. I dove head first and binged everything I could get my hungry hands on.
I felt so much joy when I realized I could organize my day however I chose. And I got to pick who I worked with and what projects I took on.
Ah, the personal development niche, which I am a FREAK about!! But then, something unexpected happened. I found myself drawn to coaching.
Especially after watching my own Coach D’s transition from copywriting to coaching. After giving me several nudges and hints, she got me thinking. And DUNN Coaching came to life.
DUNN Coaching wasn’t just another business idea. It was a chance to connect with people on a deeper level, to share what I’ve learned, and to help others grow. And let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of helping someone break through their barriers and inspire them to switch their mindset.
Juggling DUNN Copywriting and DUNN Coaching has been an adventure so far. Yes, it meant getting out of my comfort zone (hello, video recordings!), but it’s all about putting yourself out there, right?
Copywriting has taught me loads about the power of stories—not just telling them through copy but living them by following your passions.
